‘Chala kheluya maidanat’ is a movement to get children out of the class rooms and away from their mobiles into a fresh new world of sports. To the soil of the playgrounds and joy of team sports. For friendships and fun, team spirit and unity. Children imbibe discipline in a playful way. And carry home memories of a time well spent in fresh air under the bright blue sky.
We have conducted 8 ‘Chala kheluya maidanat’ workshops. They are conducted over 5 days in evening sessions. Approximately 300 children participate in each workshop and are trained in athletics, kho kho, kabaddi, langdi and calisthenics. There are demonstrations on sports such as fencing and taekwondo. Additional sessions include meditation and mindfulness. Children receive colourful T shirts and nutrients such as fruits during the sessions. Parents too get to participate in discussions with sports psychologists and parents of successful sportspersons.
